Psalm 127

A song of ascents. Of Solomon.

Unless the Lord builds the house,
    the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain.
In vain you rise early
    and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—
for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves.

Children are a heritage from the Lord,
    offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their opponents in court.

A Pilgrimage with the Psalms of Ascent - Joy

Have you ever had times when things just don't seem to be going according to your plan? I don't mean little daily things, but the bigger things that are much more important in the big picture. Things like raising a family, making a major purchase, choosing a career direction or where to live, caring for others. I certainly do, and find myself wishing I was much wiser at those times. Solomon's wisdom would be very helpful, indeed!

I am often amazed at how advice from thousands of years ago is so incredibly relevant to my life today. Please join me on Sunday as we continue our journey through the Psalms of Ascent, and seek to apply wisdom from millennia past!
