Ephesians 2:11-22

Do you believe in the church? You might say you believe in God, but what about the church? Let’s ask it another way, "what does it mean to be the church?" In the Apostle's Creed, to say that you believe in something is to say that your entire life is oriented around it, that it shapes who you are and what you do. With that in mind, do you believe in the church? Notice how the Creed states a belief in God the Father, in Jesus and his judgment, a belief in the Holy Spirit, and now on to the universal (catholic) church, all before talking about any benefits such beliefs might render to any one person. To be a Christian is to be part of the church, through all space and time, and that needs to shape who we are and what we do. As we join together in worship and explore what it means to believe in the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, we are ultimately exploring what it really means in a Christian context to say, “I believe…
