Esther 9:20-32

Scripture: Esther 9:20-32
Message: Esther Part 4: What Story Are We Living?
Speaker: Pastor Tyler Graftaas

The book of Esther was written to remind God’s people that despite the risk of annihilation under a foreign king, God is faithful to keep his promise to sustain them. Specifically, it was written to remind them of the story behind Purim, a celebration of the saving power of God. Yet despite telling stories, and participating in the festivals that celebrated what God had done in the past and anticipated the restoration of Israel in the future (Passover, First Fruits, Atonement, etc.), when Jesus came, many of the faithful could not see that he was the Messiah and continued in their old pattern of living. What happened? How could those who worked so hard at faithfully obeying God’s word, miss the coming of the one who truly saves? This Sunday as we conclude our look at Esther (and my final sermon until September!) we will look at a few key passages in Scripture that remind us that not only must we learn the story of God, but we must continually examine ourselves and ask, am I living His story?
