Rejoice!

Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

He said:

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

I remember some of the winters when I was a child, and how walking through fresh snow was a challenge. I liked to follow my parents because they had left deep footsteps in the snow. It made the walk easier. It felt good to know I was following where they had walked. It gave me strength, confidence, and all those things that seem lacking when I was unsure about a new journey. As I get older, I find my journeys are different, the challenges are different, and most definitely the purpose of the trip is different. It’s still exciting though.

Please join us this week as we look at what it means to try to follow in the guidance and footsteps of Jesus, and how we should respond to Him.
