Luke 1:26-38
Scripture: Luke 1:26-38
Message: Invitation: Slavery as Choice
Speaker: Tyler Graftaas

It’s probably safe to say that the concept of slavery conjures up negative images, especially in the western world. We are a society that, in the public eye at least, have high regard for personal choice, independence, and a sense of freedom. But what if slavery was a choice? What if being free actually meant choosing what or to whom we were enslaved rather than an absence of slavery? Paul says such to the church in Rome, “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.” Upon hearing that God would use her to bear a child, whose kingdom would never end, Mary’s response was not “great! My family will be free!” but rather, “I am the Lord’s slave. May God’s word be fulfilled.”
