Luke 15:11-32

Scripture: Luke 15:11-32
Message: Words of Life Part 8: Sacrifice
Speaker: Tyler Graftaas

At first run, a word like sacrifice might sound like loss, because when we sacrifice something we are giving it up. Jesus sacrificed his life for us. Soldiers sacrifice their freedom so that those they protect can have theirs. Parents sacrifice for their children. People sacrifice time and resources for causes they deem worthwhile. In these examples, although there is a loss, many of us would argue it is a loss for a greater gain. But sacrifice can be a tricky word. In one of his most famous parables, Jesus tells the story of a younger son who comes to his senses and sacrifices his pride, an older son whose pride causes him to sacrifice relationships, and a father, the hero of the story, who sacrifices nothing at all.
