Hebrews 4:14-6:3

Press On

Being 40, with two teenage children and two more quickly approaching that age, there are times where I want to “go back to a more simple time” when boyfriends, girlfriends, and the influence of social media was not a concern. But I can’t, I’m 40 and have two teenage children and two more quickly approaching that age. Instead, I need to grow and mature, to learn what it means to be a parent of teenagers, and eventually to be a parent to college students and more. I have to press on.
The writer of Hebrews says the same thing to his audience in regards to their Christian faith. They need to really understand who Jesus is as the perfect high priest and grow into the full maturity of that reality. To do otherwise, he warns, will end in disaster. So he encourages them, press on, keep growing in faith and obedience to the perfect high priest, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
