Revelation 21
Shaped By Our Future - 10:30 am Sunday Service

The early church’s vision of the future was based on the understanding that Jesus was, in fact, the Messiah and had fulfilled the Old Testament promises of God’s return to establish and govern his people. Although this had not fully come to pass, when we read the letter of James and other New Testament letters, we hear and see that vision over and over again (the “here but not yet” kingdom of God), and this vision shaped how they were to conduct and live in the present.
Exiled on the Island of Patmos, Jesus appeared to the Apostle John and “peeled back the curtain” revealing what God was up to in the "unseen realms.” He recorded what God was up to behind the scenes and it became the final book of the Bible, what we know as The Revelation.
Like the early church, our vision of the future shapes how we live in the present. This Sunday we will explore the final vision John was privileged to see as we look at Revelation 21 and consider what that glimpse of the unseen realms of God means for us today.
