Hope Mission Volunteer Opportunities and Update

November Update for HOPE MISSION:  

1. Open

   • We have opened up the Hope Mission Hub for after school programs and meals. We are offering a kids program, a youth program and a home work program. All programs wrap up with a hot meal.

2. Fall Program

   • We kicked off our fall program season with a Scavenger Hunt for our youth and a Drive Through Carnival for our kids & their families.

3. School Lunch Program

   • We have re-established our school lunch program in three Calgary Board of Education school partners. That means we are preparing and serving over 600 school lunches each week. 

4. Thanksgiving Dinners

   • We prepared and delivered Thanksgiving Dinners to over 100 Calgary families. The families received a full turkey dinner with all the fixings. 

5. Volunteer Opportunities for groups or individuals:

1. 1. Hope Mission will be preparing around 400 meals to deliver to families for the Christmas season. We will need help in the kitchen to prepare all those meals:
      
      • Our Tuesday shift will require 4 volunteers from 10 am to noon. These shifts will be run November 3^rd, 10^th, 17^th & 24^th.
      • Our Friday shift will also require 4 volunteers from 9 am to noon. These shifts will be run November 6^th, 13^th, 20^th & 27^th.

1. 1. Hope Mission will be offering a number of Family Christmas Dinners in December. We will need volunteers to help prepare the food and to wrap Christmas gifts.
      • The Family Christmas Dinners will be held on Friday, December 11^th, Wednesday, December 16^th, Friday, December 18^th & Monday, December 21^st.
        • We will require 4 people to work in the kitchen from 4 to 7:30 pm
        • We will also need 4 people to wrap gifts from 5 to 7:30 pm
        • These Family Dinners will depend on the COVID restrictions in place at that time.

2. Christmas Gift Drive

   We know many of our kids, youth & families will not be able to exchange gifts on Christmas day. This is where you come in. We are hoping you can help supply our kids & youth with a special gift for them to take home for Christmas day.

   • • Please help us by purchasing a gift, or gifts, from the attached Christmas Gift Wish List.
     • You can drop off your gifts at the Hope Mission Hub (4869 Hubalta Road SE) during office hours (Monday to Friday, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm).
     • Gifts are welcomed anytime and need to be delivered by 4:30 pm on Monday, December 7^th.
     • Please do not wrap your gifts. We will take care of the wrapping.
     • Please help us spread the Christmas joy this holiday season.

3. Hope Mission Stories on AM 700 The Light & Shine FM

   You can be encouraged by hearing our Hope Mission Stories.
   • • The stories of hope air Monday to Friday on:
       • AM 700 the Light at around 7:30 am and 5:15 pm.
       • Shine FM (88.9) at around 5:15 pm.
