Revelation 12:1-9, 13-17
Wilderness Sanctuary

"What is wrong with the world?!?” This and similar phrases have been prevalent throughout our lives, but seem to have intensified over the last two. We have seen a rise in contention between family and neighbours resulting in cities, provinces, and the country divided and broken. Who is to blame and who should take responsibility?
Chapter 12 is the theological centre of the book of Revelation, and as Jesus pulls back the veil for what John sees next, three characters become prominent: the woman, the dragon, and the child. The cosmic battle that ensues involves stars swept from the sky, armies of angels, floods of waters, and more. But for John, the churches to which he was writing, and for us today, this vision is a reminder that although it may seem that the world has gone mad, the battle had been won, the woman is protected, the dragon is defeated, and the child is where he belongs…seated on the throne.
