1 Timothy 2
Pray for everyone, worship God alone

There are many controversial subjects in the Bible. Some because we don’t yet understand them, others because they go against what we perceived to be right, and some things just feel wrong. One such subject is the role of women in the church. In the second chapter of this letter to Timothy Paul’s words seem completely out of place, if not wrong, in the 21st Century. So what do we do with it? Much ink has been spilt trying to resolve Paul’s message, and the debate continues endlessly on. But what if the debate is the very issue Paul was trying to address? How we approach this text (and many others) often says more about how we read Scripture and its authority in our lives (or lack thereof), than we may care to admit. How we approach this text helps us answer the question, are we praying for everyone and worshipping God alone?
