Only Jesus Saves

What do you need saving from? If your answer is “nothing” then you might be in good company with Alexander and Hymenaeus. If your answer is “everything” it might be time to sit with some trusted friends who can encourage and support you. Paul writes that he is the worst of sinners and God saved him, and yet Paul has kicked Alexander and Hymenaeus out of the church. If Paul is the worst, why is he the leader while they have been removed?

As we continue through Paul’s letter to his son Timothy, he wraps up his introduction, restates the challenge facing the church in Ephesus, and reminds Timothy to remember his calling that he might fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience, because we are all sinners and only Jesus saves.
