Scripture: Acts 1:1-9
Message: Our Gospel Identities: We Are Missionaries
Speaker: Pastor Tyler Graftaas

In our Gospel Identities series so far we have identified who we are: disciples of Jesus and heirs of the kingdom. We have identified how we are to live: as servants of God to one another. Finally, this Sunday we will be exploring what it is we are: missionaries/witnesses. Not only has Jesus called us to follow him, to be coheirs with him, to serve alongside him, he also is sending us to continue the work he initiated in restoring creation: …Jesus came and stood among [the disciples] and said…“Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that, he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.” (John 20:19-23). Along with being called his own, Jesus has given us, the church, an enormous responsibility to represent and proclaim him throughout the world. It is a big task, one that requires everything we have, but it is the only thing worth living, and dying, for. I look forward to joining together with you as we worship the risen king.
