Beginning Again Part 1: Self-Awareness
For months God has been leading the Israelites, first out of captivity in Egypt and then safely down to Sinai where Moses was called up the mountain to receive the Law of God. It seems as though the promise first made to Abraham is becoming more real, until tragedy strikes while Moses is a long time in coming…the people get distracted, fashion an idol out of gold, and engage in false worship. This week as we continue our brief journey through Exodus we see that as a result of their obstinance God decides he will no longer be present with them. Has the promise to Abraham been lost? Is it possible for Israel to begin again? This Sunday we will embark on a seven-part series about starting over, for the Israelites at Sinai that journey begins with self-awareness.
