Acts 1:1-14 “Confused Conviction”

Often I want to have control of situations: know all the variables, have a good idea of the outcomes, understand what it's going to take to accomplish the task. However, that is not the circumstances we operate within if we are going to follow God and live out our calling as His people. As we saw in our exploration of the book of Numbers, following God means going when he says go and staying when he says stay. As we begin our journey through the book of Acts we see that the church is launched the very same way. "Wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit...and you will be my witnesses to the end of the earth." With that Jesus left and the disciples sat and prayed. What was it that convicted Jesus' first followers to remain in that upper room praying, waiting for something that was truly confusing for them? Join us this Sunday when we begin our summer trek through the book of Acts and the launch of the early church!
