Acts 28:16-31

Scripture: Acts 28:16-31
Message: Chained, but not stopped
Speaker: Tyler Graftaas

One of the interesting phenomena we have as people is drawing lines in the sand to mark changes. As the New Year approaches we say “the current year is ending, and starting in January I’m going to…” Alternatively, we say things like, “I can’t do such and such, because I’m too [insert reasoning here].” However, as the New Year starts, the only objective difference is that the sun rises a bit earlier and we turn the calendar page over. And when it comes to hindrances, more often than not it is a result of what we are paying attention to or our cultural expectations, rather than a real inability. As the book of Acts draws to a close Luke tells us that despite his house arrest, Paul “proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!” For Paul, the chains that were meant to hold him back, proved utterly irrelevant in his calling as an Apostle of Jesus Christ.
