The Lord's Prayer

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
   but deliver us from the evil one.’

There are different ways to pray this prayer:

• Say the words aloud
• Say the words in your head
• Sing the words
• Pray through the words using different Bible translations (biblegateway.com is a great place to start)
• Use the words as a guide to write, draw, or speak the words that come to mind:

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

The word hallowed means greatly revered, honoured, and holy.
Who is the Father to you? Write out names of God that are personal to you (ie. comforter, king, healer, miracle worker...)

your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Pray for God's will, for his plans, surrender your desires and focus on what Jesus would do.

Give us today our daily bread.

Ask God for your needs, lay before Him your worries and concerns, trust Him to provide all you need.

And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Seek forgiveness for the areas in your life you have gone your own way and turned from following Jesus.  List and forgive those who have hurt you, intentionally or otherwise. If you are struggling to forgive someone ask the Lord for strength and talk to a pastor or Christian friend. Don't let unforgiveness live in your heart for long, deal with it.

How is God calling you to respond to those who have hurt you and actively forgive them?

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’

Examine the areas in your life where you are tempted, pray for strength to overcome these things. Follow the leading of the Lord, there may be things you need to do in order to combat strongholds.

Thank you for praying,

for turning your eyes and heart to the Father who is able to do more than we could hope or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). May you come to know Jesus more, be blessed, and be a blessing as you pray.
